 Dear Mr. Quirke,

 RETURN OF MICRO PLUS SPIROMETERS

Reference: Your Ref TLJ - 338

May I thank you kindly for the loan of the two micro plus spirometer units which have been used to record  the lung functions of the expedition members on our recent expedition to the Arctic Circle.

I was very impressed with the units and they functioned faultlessly in the remote areas of the Arctic in  temperatures as low as -15 Celsius.

The study undertaken with the spirometers enabled the expedition to receive support from the drummond  trust, an army fund for medical research. For this in addition to the kind loan of the spirometers I am very  grateful.

In December it is hoped to present the study findings to the Director General of the Army Medical  Services, Maj Gen W R Short. I will also be presenting the findings to the institute of Navel Medicine, If  suitable it is hoped to have the findings published.

I have enclosed with pleasure a photograph of the spirometer in the Arctic Circle. I have some others on  slide, which if you wish I would be happy to send.

I am sending the units by registered post, and if I may assist further please contact me at (Deleted from  page for privacy reasons).

 Yours Sincerely,

Maj R W POOL
Expedition Medical Officer
