The SuperSpiro clinic spirometer has all the features of MicroLab, plus additional colour touch-screen, high speed/ high-resolution integral printer, increased memory capacity for 2500 patient test sessions and special challenge test module.
Challenge testing using SuperSpiro
Designed to make challenge testing simple, the SuperSpiro can store up to 6 different challenge protocols, with the option to select from pre-set protocols or customise settings to your own challenge protocol. There are 3 pre-written protocols to choose from:
• ATS (dosing / tidal)
• ERS (dosing / tidal / hypertonic)
• Mannitol
Once a protocol has been selected, SuperSpiro will guide the operator through the stages of the selected challenge procedure using on-screen messages and a visual countdown timer.
The stages include:
• Baseline test section - obtains a clean reference FEV1. The operator can specify the maximum number of blows available for taking a baseline blow from and choose to take the result from highest or lowest recorded FEV1.
• Diluent test – optional according to whether using dose or concentrate challenge agent. Shows on- screen instruction to take diluent plus post-diluent FEV1 with percent change from baseline FEV1. The operator can choose to proceed to the next stage using highest or lowest post-diluent result.
• Dosing regimen – next specified dose to be taken shown on screen. Once a dose has been taken, the real-time clock countdown between post-dose blows is shown on screen for operator ease of use. PC/PD15/20 can be selected before starting the procedure and an on-screen warning will be shown as soon as a positive dose response has been reached. (View Diagram)
• Recovery test – on-screen instruction to administer bronchodilator for recovery with recovery percentage improvement shown after timed interval.
• Summary printout - details challenge agent selected, summary of quality of FEV1 blows and percent change at all stages of the test plus dose response graph.
